Sometimes I get lost in the details of my life.

Sometimes it feels like I go, go, go, but don’t get much of anything done. If I’m not careful, I can convince myself that it’s all just busy work and none of it really matters.

I can get lost in the details and, despite knowing better, sometimes I can’t see the forest through the trees. Those dang trees, you guys. They sure can get in the way, can’t they?

Well, listen. LISTEN.

It matters. You matter. The things you’re doing matter, friend. All those trees? They matter.

Yes, even the little stuff. You know what? ESPECIALLY the little stuff.

Wiping faces and picking up laundry.

Making lunches and putting away the dishes.

Cleaning off counters and adding snacks to the shopping list.

The bedtime snuggles and book reading.

Smearing on sunscreen and being a human jungle gym.

The little prayers you whisper as you work.

Signing permission slips and filling out forms.

Answering emails and returning messages.

Paying bills and getting cards in the mail.

Microwaving yet another plate of chicken nuggets.

Feeding the dogs and picking up groceries.

Scheduling appointments and setting alarms.

The day in. The day out. The routine. The unexpected.

All the roll-with-the-flow things that make up your days.

It matters.

Every. Little. Thing. Matters.

Collectively, each of those little things makes for the life that you and your people will remember. Every sticky, tired, sunburned, snuggly, busy little thing. It matters.

These are the trees make up the forest, friend. And what a beautiful forest it is.
