I hope this Christmas is amazing for you.
I hope you’re surrounded by loved ones and that you feel safe.
I hope you don’t have to talk politics around the dinner table.
I hope you have so much family at church that you have to squish to fit everyone in the pew.
I hope the rolls are hot, the tea is iced, and the turkey is browned to perfection.
I hope the kids are all healthy and you get enough sleep.
I hope that last minute Amazon order actually arrives on time.
I hope you remembered batteries.
I hope you don’t run out of wrapping paper before you’ve finished all the gifts.
I hope it’s the kind of Christmas you’ve always dreamed of.
I genuinely hope these things for you, but…
If your week feels a bit too big or things don’t go as planned or your heart is aching, please know…
It might not be perfect, and that’s okay.
It’s okay if you need to take a break.
It’s okay if you need to step away for a minute.
It’s okay if you forget the cranberry sauce or bring a store bought pie.
It’s okay if the package doesn’t arrive. Seriously, this is inconvenient, but it is not the end of the world.
It’s okay if you miss someone so much the pain is palpable.
It’s okay if Christmas morning includes both cinnamon rolls and cough syrup.
It’s okay if those last few gifts are wrapped in trash bags and tied with bows.
It’s okay to feel whatever you feel.
It may or may not be perfect and that’s perfectly okay.
